Marbury will return to Knicks at some point in 2008

Stephon Marbury has been away from the New York Knicks for eight straight days and will not be back at the Garden for Sunday's game against the Bulls the New York Daily News reported.

But the Knicks' starting point guard plans to return to the team "sometime after the New Year," according to a Knicks public relations official. The official spoke with Marbury Thursday to address speculation over the grieving guard's status with the team. Questions over Marbury's future with the Knicks were fueled by Isiah Thomas' comments after Knicks practice Thursday.

"I don't know," Thomas said when asked if there was a chance Marbury would not return to the team this season. Marbury missed practice yesterday and has been in and out of the lineup since his father, Don, died on Dec.2 after suffering a heart attack while watching the Knicks-Suns game.

Who cares? As a person, I am sorry for his loss, but it really doesn't matter if he is on the court or not at this point. Marbury underachieved and proved unpopular in locker rooms throughout the league before coming to the NYKs, and is now a never-was-has-been. Things might have been different if he had stayed in school and achieved a little mental maturity, but that is a big what-if. Unfortunately, now Marbury is another festering wound inflicted on the NYKs by Lil Arseface Jimmy and IT. Amputation is in order.

wow..marbury? are u serious..well i know how he feels about his father but.,.. sitting out for 10 games in a row dosen't give him the answer. Isiah either talk to him about this or just trade him..but the problem is that nobody would take him of he gets traded.he has to COMEBACK!!!!!!

I have no problem with anyone taking a leave of absence to grieve for the death of a family member, basketball player or otherwise. If that's indeed why Marbury has left the team, leave the guy alone already and let him get his head and his life straight.

When I lost my dad I was back at work the day after the funeral..it was expected. This clown isn't grieving, he is playing the Knicks. Sorry about your dad, but get over it. Just an excuse to be a [profane]. But really can't blame him for not wanting to go back to that mess, but call it what it is, instead of the "grieving" excuse.

He's a joke! NYK's are a joke! Isiah's a joke! Isiah should've watched & learned from his back court pal........Isiah should lace'em back up and take over as the new floor general while Starbaby grieves his loss for another month......what a freakin' joke!

Just give Scarbury his money and send him on his way. He's nothing but a cancer. Always was/always will be. the guy is a loser. Plain and simple. Look at what Brett Favre did on Monday night after his pops died. That's the difference between a champ and a chump.

I would get rid of Marbury. It seems like the team is no different with him gone, which means he makes no difference. I'd keep Crawford, Randolph, and Lee.,,the only bright spots on the team. I'd also keep Balkman, Fred Jones and Robinson...at least they bring some energy and passion. Get rid of Q-Rich, Rose, CURRY!!!. Also get rid of Jeffries....those guys do nothing but turnover the ball, miss foul shots, and get injured, or foul out.
Maybe they can get a few players in a yard sale from Memphis (having financial trouble)...maybe Pau Gasol for all those other guys.

I've got it! The NYKs should trade Dinglebury to a Cyberwank team. IT can pretend to coach him. Lil Arseface Jimmy and IT can pretend Dinglebury is a real point guard who distributes the ball and can also shoot well. Plus Dingelbury does not even need to show up to play. That will free up more of his time for banging buttaface interns with low self-esteem. Actually, come to think of it, Dinglebury may have a front office job with MSG/NYK/NYR in his future.
